Oneness

We are taught by both ancient and modern spiritual traditions that ultimate, metaphysical reality is One. All the seeming divisions of life are just part of an illusory world, and those divisions are symbolic of the big division, also illusory: our seeming separation from our Source, or God. This separation is the source of the misery of this dream world.

When a work of art really hits home and becomes great, is when an artist manages to tap into a connection to Source and see things as One, and then symbolizes that Oneness (or Wholeness, or non-duality) within the work.

He builds a work with many interesting parts and much exciting interplay of energies, and yet he wrangles every little part into harmony with all the others, and gets a reflection of Oneness. This applies also to smaller parts of the work.

The receiver experiences the work, and the deepest part of the thrill he gets is from this connection to Source, and he moves yet another little step closer to it.
